Lomonosov factory was established in St. Petersburg in 1744 and marked the beginning of porcelain production in Russia. The artistic rendering of figurines and other works of art in fine dacite porcelain soon gained the favor of the Czar and his Court. Through his commis¬ sioned works for luxurious porcelain gifts for European nobility, the name Lomonosov was established throughout Europe at the dawning of porcelain pro¬ duction on the Continent.
